6 miles and 1,000 feet of elevation gain will get you a primo lunch spot just outside Sedona. 12.22.21
We hiked Cibolla Pass to Jordan Trail, then on to Soldiers Pass to Brins Mesa. Temperature was in the low 60s. Not too many people out. Truly, a picture perfect day.
Winter Solstice Hike at West Fork Oak Creek/Sedona
How did you spend the winter solstice? We had a slow start after a busy day yesterday, but were on the road to Meteor Crater by 10:30 am. On the way, we found the trailhead for the West Fork Oak Creek hike, and decided to stop. Four hours later we emerged from an incredible 8-mile …

Know what’s tough? Healing your Achilles tendon. At first he tried to keep running, hiking, walking —and most likely injured it further. After completely resting …
A Slippery Walk
We went for a walk along Pine Creek today. It’s January and the path is slippery. We love Pine Creek in all seasons. In winter we find its beauty is subtle and muted. The cold air clears my head with each deep breath. Today we discovered interesting creek side ice crystals and curious fossils.
Bench…a long seat for several people to sit on.
This one has supported a lot of bottoms sitting on it over the decades. (I’d like to assk it about the humans it’s supported, butt I think that might be a little cheeky.) This bench has been around since before I was born. Made by my dad’s dad in the 50s, it’s sturdy, built to …
