The run up to Labor Day weekend this year meant the semester began at Lycoming and I was busy after a summer of non-stop home improvement projects. Traditionally Labor Day weekend is the closing of summer and the beginning of fall. We have a local weather man who describes September, October, and November as meteorologic fall. Purists will tell you that fall truly begins on the autumnal equinox, this year that is on Thursday, September 22. I have that particular day and the next one blocked out on my calendar as Olivia needs the bed in her Rochester apartment removed; the last item to be re-homed in her epic move to southern California via the Netherlands. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Labor Day weekend this year meant that the kids, their partners, and friends came home to enjoy newly renovated bathrooms, a beautiful new, wrap-around porch, and an elegant, in-ground swimming pool (My 30-year dream come true.) This year, Labor Day weekend is the threshold of an extended pool season, stretching the glorious days of summer into October.

This parka is from Andrew’s senior year when he was captain of the swim team.

It RAINED last night and is raining today and tomorrow.

Hahaha. No. Shea is a buddy from PSU days. He just completed a PhD in Chemistry from Syracuse. He’s considering his next steps carefully.
