Fun Day Sunday

Up at dawn. 🌞

Keith was still sleeping while I drank a cup of tea. It rained ferociously overnight, and was still dripping when I fed the cats.

Keith appeared at 8:20 and I suggested a pre-breakfast swim. Why not? We have this new pool and it sure is fun to float around. After an hour-and-a-half, with coffee and tea to prime our pumps, we went inside for egg sandwiches smeared with fresh guacamole for me and pico de gallo for him. Quick showers and we were on our way to Lowe’s. I purchased sunflower seeds, the package says they will only grow to be 3-feet tall. Keith purchased a shade for the new window in the basement and three, 8-feet long coolaroo shades for the front porch. We entertained guests on the front porch last Wednesday, and I doubt they’ll come back after we cooked them in the early evening sun.

On our way back to the house, we stopped at Wildwood Cemetery to clean up the Kuzio family plots. It’s become a 4th of July tradition to cut down the straggly grass, pull the weeds, and blow the dust off the markers. The cemetery is typically peaceful and calm. Not a bad place to spend an hour.

The rainy afternoon found us outside. I planted the package of sunflower seeds on the bank where the daffodils were in April. I’m hoping for big blooms in the middle of September. Keith wrangled the 3 new coolaroo shades into place on the western facing side of the porch. I helped, a little. His joke about finding his man hammer pretty much did me in.

With the shades in place, we changed, fixed drinks and spent another hour floating around the pool in light rain showers.

We had a light supper and are now sitting on the front porch watching the clouds drift away. A cool blue evening sky has taken the stage.
